How to choose the perfect lotion for your skin type

Choosing a lotion may seem like an innocent task; you take one that looks promising, but after a while, you notice that it is not adding any benefits to your skin, even though your friend or co-worker is using the same lotion, and her skin looks healthy and flawless. Put in mind that everyone has different skin types, and what might work for them, may not work for you, that’s why understanding your skin type plays a significant role in selecting the moisturizer that will give your skin that inner glow.

Next time you shop for a body cream, make sure that the product you are buying has one of these ingredients according to your skin type:

1. Normal skin
Normal skin is not too dry and not too oily. The concentration of natural vitamins and fatty acids in Shea butter makes it the ideal moisturizer for this type of skin. Shea butter is naturally packed with Vitamins A, E, and F which encourage healthy skin cell production, help protect against UV rays and provides anti-inflammatory benefits for the skin.

2. Dry skin
If you have a dull and rough complexion, then your skin is dry. Cocoa butter is a powerful moisturizer that not only nourishes the skin but also heals it from inside out.

3. Very dry skin
Your skin is very dry, and no matter what you do, you still can't get that deep moisture? Well, this coconut oil is your holy grail. It's highly effective in increasing hydration and reducing water loss in the dehydrated skin.

4. Mature skin
Premature ageing of the skin happens because of oxidative stress due to UV rays, rough handling of the skin and using harsh chemicals on it, or even environmental pollution. Olive oil contains antioxidants that help restore skin smoothness and protects against ultraviolet light, also prevent free radical damage to the skin, thus preventing premature ageing.

5. Sensitive skin
If your skin often feels tight and sore to touch, you might have sensitive skin. Sensitive skin often reacts badly with skincare products. Choose a lotion that is mild and has natural hypoallergenic ingredients such as cocoa butter.

Taking care of our skin might look difficult, but when you understand what your skin needs and make the right choices, you'll be glowing in no time.
